Your priorities are my priorities

I will speak up for a fair deal for you and our communities.  Working within the limits imposed by central government cuts my priorities will be to focus council resources on your priorities:

Social care – Liberal Democrats are campaigning locally and nationally for a fully integrated system of social care and the NHS so that people can get the care and support they need.

Road maintenance and transport – Hampshire Liberal Democrats say we need to ensure that road and pavement repairs last.  We need to take action to make walking and cycling safer and more attractive.  We need a clean air strategy and effective bus / rail links.

Recycling and waste – Hampshire Liberal Democrats are campaigning to halt the Waste and Recycling Tip closure programme and the new charges, which are a false economy leading to the need for District Councils to pick up the bill to clean up increasing illegal fly-tipping.

School funding – We need fair support for our brilliant small and rural primary schools as they face the uncertainty of forthcoming budget cuts as a result of the new Conservative National Funding Formula.

Genuinely affordable housing – Hampshire Liberal Democrats say we need to ensure infrastructure comes first where there is new development which provides the right homes in the right places.

Ruth says,

“As a teacher I am concerned about the effect on our brilliant schools of the tens of thousands of pounds of proposed budget cuts that each of our local primary schools now face.  As a parent I worry about the future of our communities if our young people can’t afford to live here and those in social care need to feel confident it will be there for them when they need it.”
